 Shawn Carter “Jay-Z" was born on December 4 1969, he is an American rapper, Record producer, entrepreneur and occasional actor, he is one of the most financially successful hip hop artist in America, with the Shawn Carter Biography being accredited with a net worth of $150 million, he also sold about $50 million albums World wide. MTV said that Jay-Z is the greatest rapper of all times. Jay-Z owns and co-owns a lot of businesses including the 40/40 club (high end club for top celebrities and wealthy people), NBA New Jersey Nets And the famous clothing label Rocawear. He is married to R&B Superstar Beyonce and they are considered the hottest couple in Hollywood, they have a baby due in 2012.

Jay-Z is from Marcy Houses (a housing project near Brooklyn), he always mentions it in his songs. He was abandoned by his father in 1982, he developed inner anger and pain through his childhood, it is reported that he shot his brother for stealing his jewelry while they were growing up, he was only 12 years of age. Jay-Z was known as “Jazzy” while growing up, he use to always freestyle to his friends, as time went by he was only known as Jay-Z. Jay-Z was also involved in many battles with rapper LL Cool J in his early life, and he won most of them. In 1995 Jay-Z co-founded the record label Roc-A-Fella Records.

In 1998 he released the song “hard Knock Life” which became his biggest hit during that time, after that song he carried on to give his fans good quality music and his fan base rose, Jay-Z is a perfect example that dreams do actually come true, how often is it that an African American or any American from the projects can achieve the amount of success that Jay-Z achieved? If you think that it is luck then I agree with you because LUCK= hard work and persistence, most people that are not successful are the people that always have excuses and blame other people for they current situation, just remember that your attitude determines your altitude so you must change your mentality and then your environment around you will change
